TELLCARD was the earliest EFTPOS Smartcard project for Italy. Using Bull CP8 smart cards, Telemediacartes did a small scale demonstration in Parma Italy. 15 Pieces of Type 1 large font TELLCARD, and probably a similar number with smaller "TELLCARD" were produced. The project was rejected due to the high cost of Smartcards in comparison to normal magnetic cards.

It should be noted here, that a larger CP8 EFTPOS field trial for TELLCARD was conducted in 1985-1986 further north in Italy in areas close to the Swiss border. Cities of Bormi and Sondrino were included in these trials. see cards here:

LECAM refers to a Lecteur (Card reader where the card is inserted) and CAM (Carte a Memoire) referring to the program of smart card development supported by the French government, especially smartcard banking and public telephony.
