Description

Venezuela BS.100 (800 units) Wide 13.5mm band LOADED card

Our friend Tiziano Matta has given us some interesting background to these cards. He has met a SIDA engineer who was involved in loading some of these cards in order to sell to collectors who believed they were fake cards. Tiziano correctly advised the engineer to discontinue this practice, and it was agreed. There are MANY different curvature magnetic patterns for the various early SIDA cards, and we have no confirmed examples of the cards loaded by this engineer.

What does this mean?
1. SIDA1 Venezuela 1984 (Ex Alex Rendon) has the 9000 Lire loading pattern, and is DIFFERENT to the loading pattern on the Camera Dei Deputati test cards of 1984.
2. VEN-0004, and VEN-0005 held in the reference collection have the EXACT same 9000 Lire loading pattern as SIDA1.
3. Until we have confirmation that the SPURIOUS loading by the engineer is the exact same pattern, we will NOT classify these examples as FAKE OR GENUINE loading.
4. We confirm that these YELLOW cards were never sent to Venezuela, (as confirmed by SIDA boss Mauro Lorenzini) because, by late 1984, CANTV had already committed to the Tamura contract for the Pope's visit coming up in February 1985

These loaded examples were found randomly, after testing MANY dummies in many collections.

The first card system tested in Venezuela was the SIDA system (1984) used in Italy from 1976. The only cards documented IN Venezuela are the general plastic SIDA cards also used to test the parliament cards in Italy (Camera dei Deputati)
The Venezuela and Deputati cards of 1984, are distinguished by a hole punch in the far corner. (All other plastic SIDA cards for other use had the hole punch in a different position. The Senato cards had a hole punch positioned further in from the corner)
Alex Rendon obtained this one example direct from someone in CANTV, but they look identical to the test cards for the Parliament of Italy system, with the exception of the magnetic arc pattern.

The coding on VEN0002, 0004, and 0005, is in the same format as the Type 2 Italian phonecard curved magnetic coding. As already stated, the coding position is the same used for the L9000 card of Italy, with 4 bar positions as shown here on a DEMO card.
VEN-0004
VEN-0005

Here is the coding pattern on the SIDA1 Venezuela (VEN-0002)

We can compare this with the Camera Dei Deputati codification, which is very similar but with different units probably:

Now we can compare with other usage, SIDA for sun-tanning facility, and Credit card demos:
